Cross-linked hyperbranched fluoropolymer (HBFP) and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) amphiphilic networks with PEG weight percentages of 14% (HBFP-PEG14), 29% (HBFP-PEG29), 45% (HBFP-PEG45), and 55% (HBFP-PEG55) were prepared on 3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (3-APS) functionalized microscope glass slides for marine antifouling and fouling-release applications. The surface-free energies (gamma(s)), polar (gamma(s)(p) and gamma(s)(AB)), and dispersion (gamma(s)(d) and gamma(s)(LW)) components were evaluated using advancing contact angles by two-liquid geometric-mean and three-liquid Lifshitz-van der Waals acid-base approaches. The HBFP coating exhibited a low surface energy of 22 mJ/m(2), while the gamma(s) and gamma(s)(p) of the cross-linked HBFP-PEG coatings increased proportionally with the PEG weight percentages in the networks. The adsorption of bovine serum albumin (BSA), lectin from Codium fragile (CFL), lipopolysaccharides from Escherichia coli (LPSE) and Salmonella minnesota (LPSS) upon glass, APS-glass, HBFP, PEG, and the cross-linked HBFP-PEG network coatings were investigated by fluorescence microscopy. The marine antifouling and fouling-release properties of the cross-linked HBFP-PEG coatings were evaluated by settlement and release assays involving zoospores of green fouling alga Ulva (syn. Enteromorpha; Hayden, H. S.; Blomster, J.; Maggs, C. A.; Silva, P. C.; Stanhope, M. J.; Waaland, J. R. Eur. J. Phycol. 2003, 38, 277). The growth and release of Ulva sporelings were also investigated upon the HBFP-PEG45 coating in comparison to a poly(dimethylsiloxane) elastomer (PDMSE) standard material. Of the heterogeneous cross-linked network coatings, the maximum resistances to protein, lipopolysaccharide, and Ulva zoospore adhesion, as well as the best zoospore and sporeling release properties, were recorded for the HBFP-PEG45 coating. This material also exhibited better performance than did a standard PDMSE coating, suggesting its unique applicability in fouling-resistance applications.  相似文献

Analysis of carcinogenic substances is a high-priority area. Carcinogenic arylamines draw the analyst's attention because dyes and pigments are in production and used in large volumes. Identification of carcinogenic isomers of arylamines employing micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC), a mode of capillary electrophoresis was studied as it offers better scope for separation science. Mixed micellar modes of MEKC techniques were employed to achieve acceptable analyses. Success of this analytical method was proved by real-sample analysis, which confirmed that this is a promising technique for the arylamine species.  相似文献

Thin films of pure and molybdenum (Mo)-doped tungsten trioxide (WO3) were deposited on indium tin oxide (ITO)-coated glass and Corning glass substrates by RF magnetron sputtering technique. The effect of Mo doping on the structural, morphological, optical and electrochromic properties of WO3 films was studied systematically. The energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX) revealed that the films consist of molybdenum concentrations from 0 to 2 at.%. X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies indicated that with the increase of Mo concentration the structural phase transformation takes place from polycrystalline to amorphous phase. The crystallite size of the films decreased from 24 to 12 nm with increase of doping concentration of Mo in WO3. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis revealed that Mo dopant led to significant changes in the surface morphology of the films. The electrochemical and electrochromic performance of the pure and Mo-doped WO3 were studied. The WO3 films formed with 1.3 at.% Mo dopant concentration exhibited high optical modulation of 44.3 % and coloration efficiency of 42.5 cm2/C.  相似文献

Magnetic domain patterns in bulk barium ferrite (BaFe12O19; BaM) single crystals on the basal plane and the prism plane were measured and studied by magnetic force microscopy (MFM). The surface domain pattern is in the form of flowers or star on the basal plane and long elongated spikes or stripe domains on the prism plane. The change in domain structure with applied field (Happ) and the thickness (T) dependence on domain width (δ) was observed. The domain width decreased from 32 to 9 μm for the crystals of 800-100 μm thicknesses, respectively.  相似文献

Previously, we reported that ultraviolet B‐radiation (UVR) suppressed Bacillus Calmette–Guérin (BCG) vaccine‐induced resistance to Mycobacterium tuberculosis in guinea pigs (GP). Herein, we investigated the cellular and molecular changes within the irradiated GP epidermis and the in vivo effect of supernatants from UV‐irradiated (200 J m?2) epidermal cells (UV‐sup) on M. bovis BCG vaccination. UVR increased the number of nucleated keratinocytes in the skin, but caused a decrease in the proportions of CD25+T cells. In the spleen, UVR resulted in a decrease in the proportions of T‐cell subsets including CD25+T cells, and major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II+ and CD14+ cells. Similarly, significant up‐regulation of several cytokine mRNAs including IL‐10 was also observed. Furthermore, UV‐sup significantly reduced the MHC class II expression in peritoneal cells and reduced T‐cell proliferation to ConA. The proliferation to purified protein derivative (PPD) was restored to normal levels by anti‐IL‐10 antibody. The UV‐sup when injected into BCG‐vaccinated GP significantly diminished the skin test response and T‐cell proliferation to PPD and up‐regulated the expression of IL‐10, IL‐4, IL‐1β and Foxp3 mRNAs in the lymph node or spleen. Thus, whole body UVR induces profound cellular and molecular changes and injection of UV‐sup from epidermal cells mimics the effect of whole body UVR in BCG‐vaccinated GP.  相似文献

Poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) was synthesized by the RAFT method in the presence of 2‐cyanoprop‐2‐yl dithiobenzoate (CPDB) chain transfer agent using different [GMA]/[CPDB] molar ratios. The living radical polymerization resulted in controlled molecular weights and narrow polydispersity indices (PDI) of ≈1.1. The polymerization of pentafluorostyrene (PFS) with PGMA as the macro‐RAFT agent yielded narrow PDIs of ≤1.2 at 60 °C and ≤1.5 at 80 °C. The epoxy groups of the PGMA block were hydrolyzed to obtain novel amphiphilic copolymer, poly(glyceryl methacrylate)‐block‐poly(pentafluorostyrene) [PGMA(OH)‐b‐PPFS]. The PGMA epoxy group hydrolysis was confirmed by 1H NMR and FTIR spectroscopy. DSC investigation revealed that the PGMA‐b‐PPFS polymer was amorphous while the PGMA(OH)‐b‐PPFS displayed a high degree of crystallinity.
